Dear Families,
We’ve been having lots of fun wiggling and grooving in Mini Movers this semester! We are working primarily on body and spatial awareness in this class.
Each week, we learn about different parts of the body, and are working on building individual body expression through improvisation activities where children explore embodying different animals, or transforming themselves into different shapes. We are also working on spatial awareness with movements across the room, traveling between colored squares to give children practice with being safe in space with others.
I am very impressed with everyone’s creativity in our improvisation games, as well as the students’ ability to pick up short movement patterns. Last week, we also began to match our movements to the beat of the music, which was a big hit, and very successful with the students!
We learn a new dance move in each class—so feel free to ask your student about their moves! We will continue to build on these concepts and develop spacial and body awareness through the rest of the semester.
Warmly,
Ms. Sabina, Curated Care Teacher
