STEM Kids

Spring 2025
Dear Families,
We’ve been having a blast after school, doing all kinds of experiments and learning about many different STEM concepts. Every week we review what we learned previously. What does your kiddo remember?
In previous weeks, we have learned about 2D vs. 3D and made our own 3D paper sculptures. We’ve learned about air and how air pressure can change the shape of things like our lungs and balloons. We even saw how releasing air pressure can make our balloons zoom across the room, both freely and along a string with a straw. We’ve also experimented with gravity and kinetic energy by building our own marble run (or marble roller coaster). It was so fun watching our marbles race! Earth Science was also fun as we learned all about volcanoes, magma, and lava, and even saw our own 3D example of an effusive volcanic eruption.
It’s so thrilling to watch faces light up, like when Ike successfully helped us do the math needed to follow our recipe for homemade play-doh, or when Olivia was able to tell another teacher what a hypothesis is. So many fun games, crafts, and experiments so far, and I can’t wait for more in the weeks to come!
Best,
Kaley, Curated Care teacher
