Kitchen Chemistry
Sacred Heart
Spring 2025
Dear Families,
It has been so much fun teaching all of your kids in our Kitchen Chemistry class! Everyone has such great energy and they all come in with great questions and wonderful ideas. The goal for our Kitchen Chemistry class is for our kids to learn that science is a very important part of creating and eating our favorite foods and teaching simple cooking skills.
We start each class with a fun question of the day (What is your favorite drink? If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?) and that leads us into our kitchen experiment for the day. We may end the class by playing a fun game or we play a game while our creation is cooking or setting.
So far we have learned about how our favorite fizzy drinks get their carbonation by making fizzy lemonade and how molecular gastronomy creates some of our favorite treats like Jello by making gelatin beads. We’re also learning that sometimes experiments don’t work out, and when they don’t we learn from our mistakes and try again!
Thank you so much for entrusting me and Curated Care with your kids and happy cooking!
Best,
Karri Hart, Curated Care teacher
