Astronomy Adventures

Winter 2025
Dear Families,
Our Astronomy Adventures class has been developing knowledge of astronomy and concepts about the Solar System, the Sun, the planets, the Milky Way, and more!
Our first project was about the Sun, our big star, using flashcards with descriptions, a collage, and educational videos, allowing the kids to learn in a fun and interesting way. We also decorated a box with stickers so the kids could keep their projects inside.
The kids loved the box project and collages and have been expanding their knowledge, learning facts such as which planet is the largest or smallest and the composition of different planets.
The next steps are to learn about each planet! We started with Mercury and Venus, following the order from closest to the Sun to the farthest. Over the next few classes, we will explore Earth and its Moon, as well as the other planets that also have moons.
The goal of this class is for the kids to recognize the planets and their characteristics in a creative way. We’re looking forward to learning more about each planet, with lots of fun along the way!
Best,
Jacqueline Pinheiro, Curated Care teacher
