Art out of the Box
Sacred Heart
Winter 2025
Dear Families,
Art Out of the Box brings common materials and open-ended projects for your children to experience all the different materials and techniques they can use to express their ideas.
We always start the first day by decorating our pocket sketchbooks, a place the kids are able to brainstorm and sketch ideas alongside weekly projects. So far, we have explored paper by cutting, folding and gluing to create our very own sculptures! It is always fun to see how every child's plain brown box transforms into a unique piece.
We tried our hand in origami, which was a challenge and caused much frustration, however, we pulled through and every kid managed to take home their own origami bird. When we have time after our projects, we play a class favorite, the Basilisk Game. It is a fun and educational game where the kids have to find the chosen Basilisk by answering questions of the voted theme, from Art to Disney Songs!
In the future, we will be painting with watercolors, sculpting with clay and, of course, maintaining our last day tradition of making slime! We are very excited to keep creating and learning new things about art!
Best,
Shormi Uddin, Curated Care teacher
